In a concerted effort to ensure the safety and well-being of workers across the state, the Wyoming Occupational Safety & Health Department (WOSH) has intensified its focus on enforcing workplace safety regulations. As of February 7, 2026, WOSH inspectors have conducted a series of unannounced visits to various businesses and worksites to assess compliance with occupational safety and health standards. During these inspections, several violations were uncovered, prompting the department to take decisive action. One such violation occurred at a construction site in Cheyenne, where WOSH inspectors found workers operating heavy machinery without proper safety gear. The company responsible for the site was issued a hefty fine and mandated to implement immediate corrective measures to mitigate the risk of accidents. In another incident, a manufacturing plant in Casper was found to have inadequate ventilation systems, exposing workers to hazardous fumes and chemicals. WOSH issued a citation to the plant, requiring them to upgrade their safety equipment to meet industry standards.Furthermore, WOSH has also been proactive in conducting outreach and education initiatives to empower employers and workers with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain a safe work environment. Training sessions on proper safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and hazard recognition have been offered to businesses across the state."We take the safety and health of Wyoming's workforce very seriously," said WOSH Director, Rachel Thompson. "Our goal is to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses through proactive enforcement and education."Employers are being urged to cooperate fully with WOSH inspections and to prioritize the well-being of their employees. Failure to comply with safety regulations can result in significant fines, citations, and even temporary shutdowns of businesses.Moving forward, WOSH remains committed to its mission of promoting a culture of safety in the workplace and will continue to uphold the highest standards of occupational safety and health in Wyoming. Businesses are encouraged to reach out to the department for guidance and support in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all.
