On June 2, 2026, the Wisconsin Civil Rights Commission announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at combating discrimination in housing across the state. The initiative, called the Fair Housing Task Force, will bring together experts in civil rights law, housing policy, and community advocacy to address systemic issues that perpetuate housing discrimination in Wisconsin.The task force will be led by Commissioner Sarah Washington, a longtime civil rights advocate and former attorney specializing in fair housing litigation. In a statement released by the Commission, Washington expressed her commitment to ensuring that all Wisconsinites have equal access to safe and affordable housing."We know that housing discrimination continues to be a significant barrier for many individuals and families in Wisconsin," Washington said.
