Charleston, West Virginia - In an effort to enhance workplace health and safety across the state, West Virginia officials have announced the launch of a new occupational safety campaign on June 8, 2026. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of safety protocols in various industries and promote compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.The initiative comes in response to an uptick in workplace injuries and fatalities in recent years, prompting the need for a comprehensive approach to address safety issues. According to data from the West Virginia Division of Labor, there were a total of 2,356 workplace injuries reported in 2025, with 47 fatalities recorded.“We cannot afford to overlook the importance of ensuring the health and safety of our workers,” said Governor Sarah Reynolds. “This new campaign underscores our commitment to creating a safe and healthy work environment for all West Virginia residents.”The campaign includes a series of outreach events, training sessions, and educational materials designed to inform employers and employees about best practices for maintaining a safe workplace. Additionally, the campaign will focus on raising awareness about common hazards in various industries, such as construction, manufacturing, and healthcare.“We are dedicated to providing the resources and support necessary for businesses to prioritize safety in the workplace,” said Secretary of Labor John Thompson. “By working together to address safety concerns, we can prevent accidents and save lives.”In addition to the educational components of the campaign, the Division of Labor will also be conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
