Vermont Occupational Safety & Health Law News - Vermont Occupational Safety & Health Administration Introduces New Safety Guidelines for Construction Workers

In an effort to enhance worker safety in the construction industry, the Vermont Occupational Safety & Health Administration (VOSHA) has introduced new safety guidelines for construction workers across the state. The guidelines, which were announced on September 9, 2025, aim to reduce the number of workplace accidents and injuries in the construction sector.According to VOSHA officials, the new safety guidelines focus on a range of key areas, including fall protection, electrical safety, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment. Under the new guidelines, construction workers will be required to undergo regular training sessions to ensure that they are aware of the latest safety protocols and procedures."We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all workers in Vermont, especially those in high-risk industries like construction," said VOSHA Director Sarah Johnson. "These new safety guidelines are designed to provide construction workers with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe on the job and prevent accidents from occurring."The announcement of the new safety guidelines comes on the heels of several workplace accidents in the construction industry in recent months, including falls, electrocutions, and machinery-related injuries. In response to these incidents, VOSHA has been working closely with industry stakeholders to develop comprehensive safety guidelines that address the specific risks associated with construction work."We cannot afford to be complacent when it comes to worker safety," said Johnson. "Construction work is inherently dangerous, and we must do everything in our power to prevent accidents and injuries from happening. These new safety guidelines represent a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to protect construction workers in Vermont."In addition to the new safety guidelines, VOSHA is also encouraging construction companies to implement their own safety protocols and procedures to further enhance worker safety. The agency is offering free training sessions and resources to help companies develop and implement effective safety programs."Worker safety is everyone's responsibility," said Johnson. "By working together, we can create a safer and healthier work environment for all construction workers in Vermont. These new safety guidelines are just the beginning – we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every worker goes home safely at the end of the day."Construction companies and workers are encouraged to visit the VOSHA website for more information on the new safety guidelines and training opportunities. The agency is also available to provide assistance and support to companies seeking to improve their safety practices and create a safer workplace for all employees.
