On July 2, 2025, the Utah National Guard announced that they will be deploying troops for a humanitarian mission to South America. This mission comes in response to a request for assistance from the government of a South American country that has been devastated by natural disasters. The Utah National Guard will be sending a team of soldiers to provide assistance with rescue and recovery efforts, as well as to help with rebuilding infrastructure and providing aid to those affected by the disasters. The troops will be working alongside local authorities and international aid organizations to provide much-needed support to the affected communities. In a statement released by the Utah National Guard, Major General Michael J. Turley expressed his pride in the troops who will be embarking on this mission. He stated, "Our soldiers are always ready to answer the call to serve, whether it be at home or abroad. We are honored to be able to assist our friends in South America during their time of need."This deployment marks the latest in a series of humanitarian missions carried out by the Utah National Guard in recent years.
