August 22, 2025 - Providence, Rhode IslandThe Rhode Island Mediation Center (RIMC) announced today that they have seen a significant increase in the number of cases being resolved through mediation rather than litigation. The center, which offers mediation services for a variety of disputes including family matters, landlord-tenant issues, and civil disputes, reported a 30% increase in cases resolved amicably compared to the same period last year.“Mediation is a cost-effective and efficient way to resolve conflicts without the need for lengthy court battles,” said John Smith, Director of the RIMC. “We have seen a growing trend towards people seeking alternative dispute resolution methods, and we are pleased to be able to provide a peaceful and productive environment for parties to come to a resolution.”One recent success story involved a family dispute over an inheritance. The siblings had been at odds for years over the distribution of their late parents' estate. After several mediation sessions facilitated by the RIMC, the siblings were able to come to a fair and equitable agreement without the need for costly and time-consuming court proceedings. In addition to the increase in cases being resolved through mediation, the RIMC also reported a high rate of satisfaction among clients. According to a recent survey, 95% of clients said they would recommend mediation to others facing similar disputes.“We are proud of the work we do here at the Rhode Island Mediation Center,” said Smith. “Our goal is to help parties find common ground and reach a resolution that works for everyone involved. It's immensely rewarding to see our clients leave our center feeling heard, validated, and satisfied with the outcome.”As the demand for mediation services continues to rise, the RIMC is expanding its staff and opening additional locations throughout the state to accommodate the growing need for alternative dispute resolution services. The center is also offering virtual mediation options for those who are unable to attend in person. For more information about the Rhode Island Mediation Center and the services they offer, please visit their website at www.rimc.org.
