Oregon Transportation Law News - Oregon Department of Transportation Unveils New Electric Vehicle Charging Network

On December 2, 2025, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced the launch of a state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) charging network aimed at supporting the growing number of electric vehicles on the state's roads. The network, known as "ChargeOregon," is set to revolutionize the way Oregonians travel by providing convenient and reliable charging infrastructure throughout the state. The ChargeOregon network consists of over 500 charging stations strategically located along major highways, interstates, and in urban centers. These stations are equipped with the latest fast-charging technology, allowing EV drivers to quickly recharge their vehicles in as little as 30 minutes. In addition, the network also includes level 2 charging stations for slower overnight charging.ODOT Commissioner Jane Doe highlighted the importance of the ChargeOregon network in promoting sustainable transportation options and reducing carbon emissions. "By investing in this state-of-the-art charging infrastructure, we are making it easier for Oregonians to choose electric vehicles, contributing to our state's efforts to combat climate change and improve air quality," said Commissioner Doe.The ChargeOregon network is a result of collaboration between ODOT, electric utilities, charging station manufacturers, and local stakeholders. Funding for the project was made possible through a combination of state and federal grants, as well as private investment from EV manufacturers and charging network operators. As part of the launch of the ChargeOregon network, ODOT also announced a series of incentives and rebates for EV owners to encourage adoption and utilization of the charging network. These incentives include discounted charging rates, free charging hours, and rebates for the installation of home charging stations. With the unveiling of the ChargeOregon network, Oregon solidifies its position as a leader in sustainable transportation and environmental stewardship. The initiative is expected to accelerate the transition to electrified transportation in the state, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future for Oregonians.
