Violators of this provision could face hefty fines and penalties."Unsolicited communications are not only annoying, but they can also be a gateway for scammers to exploit unsuspecting individuals," said State Representative Sarah Adams, another supporter of the bill. "By cracking down on spam and unwanted calls, we can help protect North Dakotans from falling victim to fraud and identity theft."The communications law is set to go into effect on January 1, 2027, giving companies and service providers ample time to prepare for the changes and ensure compliance with the new regulations. Lawmakers hope that the legislation will help bolster consumer trust and confidence in the digital economy while also deterring cyber threats and fraudulent activities in the state.
